Download flightgear 2.4.012/29/2023 It’s a great way to familiarize yourself with the project. I’ve always been telling newcomers to start improving existing features. I could have never guessed I would still be working on the 744, three years after I started! Starting something new is easy, completing it is much harder. Q: What advice can you give to new developers who want to get started on their first aircraft/new feature/Nasal script? I would really like to bring the 744 to a state where a real pilot cannot spot a thing that is missing in the simulation. Q: What do you plan on doing in the future? Over the years I’ve been spending way too litle time on the actual flying. Most of that time is taken up by non-development stuff, like the forum, wiki and livery database. Now that I’m studying I have less free time, but still several hours a day on average. Until this year I spent roughly 4 to 5 hours a day on FlightGear related things. Q: On average, how much time do you spend working with/contributing to FlightGear? Both can be considered as never finished there are always things to add/improve. My main development projects right now are the Boeing 747-400 and Dutch scenery. Q: What project(s) are you working on right now? However, there are three key parts that I particularly enjoy being the development of scenery and aircraft and helping others by writing wiki articles and replying to questions at the forum. Therefore I have a very long list of interests. One of the things I like about FlightGear is the wide range of things one can get involved with: modelling, texturing, writing manuals, collecting data etc. Q: What are your major interests in FlightGear? If you have a chance to do such a flight, I’d defenitely encourage you to do so. Before starting this study my only connection with aviation (other than traveling) was a one hour flyinglesson in a twinprop, I got for my birthday. So far I really like this mix of hobby and study. Since two months I’m studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Delft. Q: Do you have real world connections with aviation or IT? Sadly the guy that introduced me to FlightGear and gave me a hobby that would last up till today, passed away in 2009. I took some effort, but I finally managed to place buildings myself. Georg (Heliflyer) placed my first buildings. In one of my first posts on the FlightGear forum I asked for someone to place my models into FlightGear’s scenery. While modelling Schiphol, I stumbled across this free flight sim, called FlightGear, that wasn’t a game, unlike Google’s. Amsterdam would be the first airport to be modelled especially for that, that was my plan at least… By then, Google Earth had a (simple) built-in flight simulator. After modelling several buildings in my home town, Amsterdam (and placing them in Google Earth) I started working on Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. One year earlier I was one of the first users of Google SketchUp, free 3D modelling software. Q: How long have you been involved in FlightGear? What was it that made you join?Īccording to the forum software I joined all the way back in July 2007.

Dropzone disc golf12/29/2023 Any area of the course that is not out-of-bounds is in-bounds.“ The out-of-bounds line is part of the out-of-bounds area. “ An out-of-bounds (OB) area is an area designated by the Director from which a disc may not be played, and within which a stance may not be taken. A disc thrown in the out-of-bounds area can’t be played from the out-of-bounds (OB). In disc golf, there are always going to be areas of the course that are designated as out-of-bounds. But, the penalty won’t affect the drop rules.īelow are the 7 most common situations in disc golf when a drop or a drop zone is used. Of course, for each one of these examples, there is a one-stroke penalty attached. But, all of these circumstances are not always the same. Most of the time, a drop will be taken only after you’ve made a throw that’s also resulted in a penalty. 7 Times When You Will Use a Drop or Drop Zone Remember, the drop zone, or DZ, can be used in case of out-of-bounds throws, missed mandos, or other situations. If you see an area marked for DZ, know that there are drop zones located on the hole. What Does DZ stand For in Disc Golf?Ī drop zone is sometimes referred to as just DZ at a disc golf course and signage at disc golf courses. The advantage of using a drop zone in this way is it takes the guesswork out of determining where the disc was last in-bounds before crossing the parallel line out-of-bounds. In some cases, a drop zone on certain courses might make more sense, especially if the out-of-bounds areas for certain holes make it hard to see where the disc might have crossed over out-of-bounds. Not all disc golf courses will have a drop zone, and they are not always required. In a tournament setting, the Director will be the one to mark the drop zones and designate how they should be played. The drop zone can be played as a normal lie, or played similar to a shot from the teeing area. The area to be used as the drop zone can be marked with a line, a marker, or any other object.Ī drop zone can be played one of two ways. In certain situations, or if there is one available, a drop zone can be used instead of the standard drop. When a drop is needed for a throw, there is also an option for a drop zone to be used. It’s so you’re not throwing the disc from an out-of-bounds area. This is the main reason why a drop is permitted. Remember though, that in disc golf your lie will always be from in-bounds. I’ll get into more later with several examples. There are going to be other times when you will need to take a drop besides just out-of-bounds. This means that where the disc crossed over from in-bounds to out-of-bounds is where a drop is established. Disc golf rules state that you’ll have to drop the disc from the point where it was last in bounds. A drop is used when taking relief, usually from a penalty.Ĭonsider the example of if you were to throw the disc in an out-of-bounds area. A drop in disc golf is similar to ball golf. This post will cover the drop rules for 7 examples that might be encountered during a round of disc golf. Drop zones are designated areas on the course where a throw can be made under certain conditions. Penalties can include out-of-bounds, missing a mandatory, hazard, or an abandoned throw. The spot of the lie is determined by the nature of the penalty. The drop rule for disc golf means that a player throws from a marked lie in bounds. Here is What the Drop Rules Are For Disc Golf

Greg lemond team z frame12/29/2023 LeMond's contract with Trek had a clause prohibiting LeMond from doing anything that would damage Trek. In 2001 the Trek deal proved painful for LeMond as he was forced by John Burke, the head of Trek, to apologize for the negative comments about Michele Ferrari, doping, and Lance Armstrong, who was by then a very important marketing force for Trek. LeMond would later claim that going into business with Trek "destroyed" his relationship with his father. While LeMond briefly led the 1991 Tour while riding his Carbonframes-produced "Greg LeMond" bicycle, the company faltered, something LeMond blamed on "undercapitalization" and poor management by his father, although Carbonframes and LeMond Cycles "parted amiably two years later." In 1995, LeMond reached a licensing agreement with Trek, according to which the Wisconsin-based company would manufacture and distribute bicycles designed with LeMond that would be sold under the "LeMond Bicycles" brand. In 1990, searching for an equipment edge for Team Z at the 1991 Tour de France, LeMond concluded an exclusive licensing agreement between his company and Carbonframes, Inc., to access the latter's advanced composites technology. In 1986, LeMond founded LeMond Bicycles to develop machines for himself that would also be marketed and sold to the public. LeMond also won the 1989 Tour and World's, and his final Tour de France in 1990 on carbon fiber frames, which had begun to feature "Greg LeMond" branding. LeMond rode a "Bernard Hinault" Signature Model Look prototype that year. Greg LeMond was a pioneer in the use of carbon fiber bicycle frames in European professional road cycling, and his Tour de France win in 1986 ahead of Bernard Hinault was the first for carbon. In August 2014, Greg LeMond launched the Washoe, a Reynolds 853 steel bike manufactured in the United States. In September 2013, LeMond partnered with Time to produce a limited run of 300 frames to commemorate his three Tour victories in 1986, 1989, and 1990. Trek believed that the cachet of the name and models offering a longer top tube than Trek's frame geometries would increase sales. įrom 1995 until February 2010 LeMond did not manufacture bicycles, instead licensing the brand name to Trek. This was to stretch out the rider on the bicycle, with the intent of both lowering the frontal area presented to the wind, and optimizing power and stability. LeMond initially offered bicycle frames with a geometry based on the racing bikes he used in competition, with a longer top tube and wheelbase in an otherwise traditional lightweight steel frame. Ram pressure stripping equation12/29/2023 Since the seminal work of Dressler (1980), it has become evident that the environment plays a major role in shaping galaxy evolution. Open Access article, published by EDP Sciences, under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License ( ), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. The density of the gas derived using the observed λ3729/ λ3726 line ratio implies a very short recombination time, suggesting that a source of ionisation is necessary to keep the gas ionised within the tail. This observation is thus the first evidence that dynamical interactions with the intracluster medium were active when the Universe was only half its present age. All this observational evidence suggests that the gas was removed during a ram-pressure stripping event. The tails, which have a cometary shape with a typical surface brightness of a few 10 −18 erg s −1 cm −2 arcsec −2, extend up to ≃100 kpc (projected distance) from the galaxy discs, and are not associated with any stellar component. Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) observations of the cluster of galaxies CGr32 ( M 200 ≃ 2 × 10 14 M ⊙) at z = 0.73 reveal the presence of two massive star-forming galaxies with extended tails of diffuse gas detected in the λ λ3727–3729 Å emission-line doublet. Along with the gods the two worlds cast12/29/2023 Yet no significant group differences were observed in self-reported emotional arousal or satisfaction with the whole experience. The viewers from the 3D condition rated their experience as more perceptually realistic and reported being less distracted during the film than their 2D counterparts. This study investigated the effect of stereoscopic realism (3D effect) on viewers' attention, emotion, and satisfaction by collecting data from 225 cinema patrons who were leaving the movie theatre having just viewed Thor. While 3D movies and fantasy film genre rise in popularity, the empirical exploration of viewers' cognitive and emotional engagement with film is currently limited and entirely derived from laboratory-based studies of small samples. The online version of this text can be found open access at These “realistic” elements form a bridge to utopic engage-ments – most strikingly, an oscillation between being in and letting go of control. While realism in some form or other appears important to most of the informants, the point of recognition is not the portrayal of daily routines but rather relationships and places. The analysis employs the concepts of realism and fantasy, which have been used to understand media pleasures as concerned both with the familiar and the utopic. The paradox that relief from everyday chores is found in a game that, to a great degree, simulates similar activities is analysed on the basis of 13 online or email qualitative interviews. Here, the focus is on the articulated pleasures of playing the digital games The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. Media use is a mundane activity that may nevertheless be highly pleasurable. The results of this paper are robust enough to suggest to policymakers in other countries to review their own policies that advocate merely protectionism as a way to make a more attractive national culture. Finally, the subsidy policy was barely noticeable before the late 1990s and is now too late and too limited to be credited for any significant impact on the success of the Korean film industry which began from the early 1990s. Second, the screen quota system, from 1966 until present, has not been effective because imposing a mandatory number of days for screening Korean movies does not ensure that the domestic audience will watch these movies. Furthermore, the import quota system strongly induced Korean filmmakers to produce bad quality movies and theaters to avoid showing Korean films. First, the import quota regime (1956–1986) limited the number of films to be imported, but not the number of Korean audience to see these imported films. The conclusion is, surprisingly at a first glance, that protectionist policies have played an insignificant role. This paper assesses whether Korean film policies, particularly protectionist ones, have been instrumental in the success of the Korean film industry.

Cornerstone my health report12/28/2023 In hindsight, Cornerstone moved too fast, too soon. It also suggests that while independent practices like Cornerstone’s may have more flexibility than big hospitals to test new business models, they may not have the capital or financial savvy to succeed. As Cornerstone learned, hospitals and doctors frequently fight the changes, because they believe they can make the most money under a fee-for-service model. The practice now stands less as a shining example of what medicine can become and more as a cautionary tale.Ĭornerstone’s experience illuminates just how tough it can be to overhaul the way medical care is delivered, even when the change is a priority for doctors and the government. Last May, unable to go it alone, Cornerstone was bought by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, a major hospital system in the area. Over the next year and a half, Cornerstone was thrust into a financial crisis. There were also dueling lawsuits, including one accusing the practice of gross mismanagement. In the months that followed, nearly 70 of its 228 doctors left, many attracted by the chance to make more money at area hospitals. Burwell’s announcement, an exodus of doctors had begun at Cornerstone. Stambaugh, Cornerstone’s chief medical officer.īut the confirmation proved premature. “To us, it was a total validation that we chose the right path,” said Dr. Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the secretary of health and human services, pledged that by 2018, half of traditional Medicare payments - tens of billions of dollars - would be based on models like Cornerstone’s. Medicare, the giant federal health insurance program, had wholeheartedly embraced the idea. In recent years, several hundred accountable care experiments have sprung up nationwide.Īnd by early 2015, Cornerstone’s bet looked like a winner. The idea is to make doctors more mindful of costs - Is that test really necessary? - while keeping people healthier and away from pricey hospital visits. There’s a term for this: an accountable care organization. Cornerstone Health Care, a large physician group here, made a big bet a few years back: It would get paid based not on how many procedures its doctors performed, but on how effectively they treated their patients.

Dragon dictate medical for mac12/28/2023 Steve Jobs was an advocate for the advancement of all kinds of creative technologies. This is indeed a sad say, not just because of the loss of speech recognition but because this goes against everything Apple stood for. And I have sadly watched Nuance’s growing frustration with Apple that finally led them to stop supporting the OSX version of Dragon last year. I have heard this story again and again from developers who are trying to work with active. He had two lawyers in the room and was very limited to what he could say, I assume it was because of fear of being sued by Apple. Not long before they stopped developing their Apple product a senior developer from Nuance contacted me to speak about their growing frustration with Apple. It became harder and harder for them to develop on the Apple platform. In the last couple of years however, Dragon seemed to falter. It was the first ever usable speech recognition engine for Macintosh and a very exciting day for those Who had struggled through the days of Philips dictate and IBM ViaVoice! Since then Dragon has slowly but surely improved, with better accuracy and better stability with every release. Ten years ago Dragon finally arrived on the Apple Macintosh platform. (Dragon have closed down all their technical support, including their old forums.) Read on for details. I am starting an FAQ about dragon for users who would like to keep their current version of Dragon going for as long as they can. |
